    Description

"ULTRA RARE" / DELMAR GARDEN SOUVENIR - OKC / GREEN PEACOCK TAIL CARNIVAL GLASS
This Carnival Glass Green Peacock Tail in what they call a hat shape in itself is not that rare. It is listed in the - 0 range.
What makes it so rare is the advertising on the bottom.
Delmar Garden was an amusement park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma that opened in 1902.  The park boasted of a 3,000 seat theater, dance pavilion, a horse racing track, baseball field, a floating wedding chapel, a swimming pool, exotic animal zoo, a penny arcade, a boardwalk beer garden, a hotel and restaurant and numerous amusement rides.  It attracted entertainers like Lon Chaney, Sr. (who met his future wife there), Buster Keaton, boxers John L. Sullivan and Jack Dempsey, the legendary race horse Dan Patch and movie star Tom Mix (who also met his future wife there).  The Oklahoma City trolley system delivered passengers  to Delmar Garden from all over Oklahoma City.  The advent of prohibition was the death blow to Delmar Garden.  It closed in 1910 and was razed the next year.
There are only FOUR of these souvenir pieces known to exist
(as far as my research has been able to determine)
    .
If you find books or lists of Carnival Glass souvenir pieces, you will not find this piece listed.  I happened upon it years ago before I knew of its rarity.  I bought it because I knew of the Delmar Garden and lived in Oklahoma.
This is considered the rarest of the souvenir pieces made by Fenton.
(If anyone else out there has one of these, I would like for you to let me know.)
Look at the pictures.  They are part of the description.
I have also shown three postcards from Delmar Garden.  I will include them with the Carnival Glass piece.
We have moved to a smaller house and are having to downsize.  I decided to share this rarity with someone else.  I am really at a loss as how to price it.  Another one has not been sold to compare it with.
If there is ever a problem with anything that I sell, please contact me before leaving feedback and we will work out a solution to the problem.
