    Description

    Original document of the German "Wotan works", dated in Litzmannstadt (Lodz) in 1944
    The document was issued at the time when the Ghetto was gradually dissolved and the Jews were deported to concentration camps
    The recipient of the letter was the "Wirtschaftsamt" in Litzmannstadt. The Economic Office administered the formally Jewish property of the expropriated Jews
    The text of the letter reads:
    Wotan works
    To the Wirtschaftsamt (The Economic Office) in Litzmannstadt
    Litzmannstadt, Garten street 17
    14. july 1944
    We hereby confirm that our follower Karl Schwarzenauer will be traveling to the Old Reich for about 14 days starting Monday, the 16th of this month. We therefore ask you to exchange his food cards for travel vouchers
